Flights, Camera, Action!

The film industry pushes the envelope of almost every service it uses, with drones and aerial photography not being the exception. With cameras and lenses capturing scenes previously inconceivable before, our task was to supply a drone that was not only capable of getting the shots but also capable of doing so within strict Civil Aviation guidelines.

THE CHALLENGE

We were approached by Flying Pictures, the leading aerial film company in the UK famed for its work on Hollywood Feature films. While they already had several drone systems, they needed a new drone solution with the ability to carry heavier camera packages.

THE SOLUTION

We crafted a bespoke drone package with removable arms, each with different propulsion profiles. These could be quickly swapped to accommodate a wide range of camera packages, up to a maximum take-off mass of 120 kg.
We also worked with our client to source multiple failsafe systems from third-party manufacturers, including a custom ballistic parachute, which later became a product in itself.
